Freddy Matariki Carr is a shapeshifter, kaitiaki and facilitator of Ngāti Awa and Ngāi Tūhoe Decent. Based in her turangawaewae, Whakatāne, Freddy has been actively learning te reo Maori and reconnecting with her community through her mahi at Te Koputu o te Whanga a Toi. She facilitates creative learning programmes in rural schools and is currently co-facilitating atua wahine, dance ceremonies with Dr. Ngahuia Murphy and The Wahine Korikori collective.

Video & dance work for the R.I.V.E.R symposium https://www.weareriver.earth,
a solo dance work in Ehe an online exhibition by Tame Iti, as well as Atarau, with the Tipuna Maunga authority for a multidisciplinary art event at Maungauika, Tamaki Makaurau.
Freddy holds a double degree from La Universidad de EAFIT Medellin, Colombia and Victoria University of Wellington. In 2019 Freddy studied Indigenous Performing Arts at Te Wananga o Aotearoa, focussing on kapa haka and theatre.
